Spring Equinox and the start of Wedding Season

As a wedding florist in the North West of England, the start of wedding season is a much-anticipated time of year. The daffodils are in full bloom, cherry blossoms adorn the streets, and the sun starts to make a more regular appearance. For us florists, spring signifies the beginning of a busy and exciting period filled with love, creativity, and the opportunity to truly showcase our passion for flowers and dedication to our craft.

First things first, it's all about preparation! Winter has been the perfect time to declutter the workshop, get on top of my accounts, refresh the website and make a social media plan. Trust me, an organized workspace (both physically and digitally) is key to a smooth-sailing wedding season.

And let’s not forget about our wonderful couples! Touching base with those tying the knot in the next 6 months, ironing out final details and ensuring everything is ready for their special day. For those planning weddings in the next 6 weeks, it’s crunch time! Final calls, last-minute changes – we’ve got it all covered.
But it's not all about to-do lists and check-ups. From brainstorming new floral designs to creating stunning proposals for incoming enquiries, these quieter months provide the perfect canvas to paint floral masterpieces for the coming 2025 and 2026 weddings.

It's also not been about floristry at all. The winter season is a time for juggling work and family life in a different way. As a mum to my energetic 4-year-old daughter, this time of year becomes all about finding that delicate balance.

Winter in the floristry world is the quietest period in my calendar, and that's by design. I made the conscious choice to focus solely on wedding and event floristry, steering clear of the hustle and bustle of retail during holidays like Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Mother's Day. This decision allows me the opportunity to catch my breath, regroup, and most importantly, spend quality time with my family.
With weekends typically filled to the brim during the busier wedding seasons, winter offers a welcome reprieve. It's a chance to tackle the ever growing to-do list of behind the scenes floristry tasks, but also to relish in moments with my husband, daughter, and our beloved old cat. From repainting a room in the house to attending school events, these winter months provide an opportunity to create lasting memories with the ones who matter most.

Whether you're a budding wedding florist dreaming of starting your own business, a couple planning your special day, or simply a lover of flowers, I invite you to join me on this journey as I enter my second year of being a full-time, award winning wedding florist. Let's embrace the beauty and challenges of wedding season together, appreciating the artistry, hard work, and joy that go into creating unforgettable floral experiences.
